Miracle or not? A look at Bee Pollen

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

There is much discuss about the enormous benefits of Bee Pollen. Many nutritionist consider it to be as close to ideal a meal as any other. With every known mineral accounted for including vitamins, amino acids and trace minerals, bee pollen is highly nutritious. It is also widely celebrated for its rich anti-oxidant effects. By including Bee Pollen in our daily diet, we ensure that we are able to balance our daily nutritional diet regardless of what else we eat. The use of Bee Pollen can be traced back a long way. Records of its use has been found in the Bible, Torah , Koran and many other Egyptian and Chinese records. Even the American president, Ronald Reagan is an affirmed believer in its positive virtues. There are many testimonies of the healing qualities found with the use of benefits of bee pollen. They claim that it’ll give you increased energy, boost your body’s immune responses by increasing your red and white blood cells, increase longevity by repairing damaged cells, and help to cure all kinds of diseases with its built in antibacterial qualities. Pollen, it has also been said, is influential in the aiding of digestion in the intestinal tract. But it helps to keep a little perspective and remain as least a little skeptical. Thus far, I am aware of no reputable scientific study that supports the view that bee pollen is effective against any human disease. How then is Bee Pollen formed? The male part of a flowering plant is responsible for the formation of pollen. As the bee flits from flower to flower, it carries pollen with it, which cross-pollinates and fertilizes the plant. The residual pollen which is not dropped off by the bees but instead carried to the hive is what is collected as bee pollen. And it is precisely because of this pollen that many people who have allergies will be negatively affected by bee pollen. There are many recorded scenarios where people exposed to bee pollen and royal jelly were affected with asthma attacks, hives, sore throats, facial itches and many other allergy responses. Allergy reactions can be triggered by even the tiniest amounts of pollen. But another real hidden danger is that many people will believe so much in the efficacy of bee pollen or some other nutrient of the month that they completely ignore the signs of their own body. The views and advises of doctors and nutritionist should always be taken in preference over the reliance on nutritional supplements.
